JOIN THE TRIBE

An outdoor seating area with a table set with plates and napkins, surrounded by trees with red berries, overlooking a mountainous landscape under a clear blue sky.

The Maza family’s winemaking tradition dates back to the late 20th century, beginning in the vineyards of Don Isidro Maza—where the first chapters of this rich story were written.

Carrying that legacy forward, Alex Campbell—a descendant of the family—and his partners have preserved and nurtured this passion for wine across generations. Inheriting more than 80 years of winemaking heritage, Alex founded Bodegas y Viñedos Maza Tonconogy SRL to continue and expand the family tradition.

In this new chapter, the team carefully selected the finest plots from the family’s original vineyards and acquired new land, paving the way for Finca Los Maza to craft premium wines.

Finca Los Maza is built on the estate-grown philosophy—producing wines exclusively from their own vineyards. This close connection between the land and the winemaking process results in wines of remarkable character and quality.

A heartfelt tribute to Don Isidro Maza, whose vision took root in the soil and now reaches tables around the world.

Finca los maza parade

Anteaters may not be the most social of creatures, but once they find their tribe they are committed. Parade is another term for ‘tribe’, and we hope you share this with yours.

“Hello and allow me to introduce myself - I am Don Maza - the original founder of Finca Los Maza in 1818. As an early explorer in the untamed territory of Mendoza, Argentina, I know the joy and challenge of starting out and exploring new possibilities - it takes grit and good friends.

With this wine I salute you and whatever new beginning you are exploring - share it with your ‘parade’ and cherish this time of rewilding!” - Don Maza

Wine Notes - Malbec

Vineyard Age - 20 years

  • The vines used to produce this wine are 20 years old. Older vines typically produce lower yields, but more concentrated and complex grapes, which enhances wine quality.

Harvest - Manually, in small boxes

  • Grapes are hand-harvested (as opposed to mechanically), which allows for better selection and less damage to the fruit.

  • Using small boxes helps prevent grass from being crushed under their own weight, preserving quality before fermentation.

Oak aging - French small oak barrels for 98 days

  • French oak barrels can impact spice, vanilla, toast, or subtle tannins.

  • 98 days (about 3 months): Gives a touch of oak influence without overpowering the fruit character.

“Fellow independents! In the early days of Argentina’s independence, I worked to help ensure our ability to assert our own destiny by declaring independence from the Spanish government.

This wine brings me back to the passion and excitement of that time, and I say cheers to you and your own personal rebellion as you work to establish and maintain the greatest gift of independence - freedom.” - Don Maza

Wine Notes - Malbec

Vineyard Age - 40 years

  • 40-year-old vines are considered old in many regions.

  • Older vines tend to produce lower yields but more complex, concentrated grapes, contributing to a higher-quality wine.

Harvest - Manually, in small boxes

  • Grapes are hand-harvested into small boxes, ensuring gentle handling and selective picking. This is typically done for higher-end wines.

Oak aging - French small oak barrels for 10 months

  • Expect more complexity, structure, and integration of oak.

Wine Notes - Malbec

Vineyard Age - 45 years

  • These are officially ‘old vines’

  • Older vines produce fewer grapes, but with greater depth and concentration, resulting in complex and age-worth wines.

Harvest - Manually, in small boxes

  • Same for all of our wines!

Oak aging - French small oak barrels for 588 days (or nearly 1 year and 7 months)

  • This significant aging provides gentle oxygen exposure (think soft tannins) and deeper complexity.
